Aeolian night

Last night was windy.  Really windy.  The kind of wind that waits until midnight to get going.  The kind that lunges and howls and bangs and crashes.  The kind that rattles the screen door like it's locked out and sets the cast iron chimes to clanging like a five alarm fire.  The kind that gets the dogs in a frenzy.  A frustrated wind that has nothing to grab onto as it whips through the bare trees and then tackles the white pines till they groan and crack.  A wind that makes you feel like a kid in bed while there's a party going on...
and then smirks at you from a distance in the completely still morning wondering why in the world you look like you haven't slept for days...

  1. Shhhhhmivvvvver...makes me chilled to hear of it. That's the kind of wind that used to set my cat pacing and whining. Speaking of pets....I await your Westminster debriefing! I count on your annual assessment.

  5. Judith, I missed the dog show, I'll have to find a re-run. Grant was in NY while it was going on but he hasn't seen any fancy pups, I asked.
