Clare and Johnny take over the kitchen

Clare turned 22 on Sunday but we couldn't get a reservation at Mambo, the restaurant we wanted to go to, so we postponed her birthday dinner until tonight.  Mambo is currently my favorite restaurant in Portsmouth.  It'll be fun.
She's come a long way from the little 4 pound 9 ounce bundle we first met 22 years ago!
She and Johnny have taken over the kitchen since they got here.  They are on some crazy (sorry guys) Paleolithic diet, so it's hard to figure out what to cook for them.  I just let them loose in Philbricks Market and they've been cooking up a storm.  For Clare's birthday they made a delicious Lemon Rasberry Tart with an almond shortbread crust (I don't think cavemen ate this, but whatever, it was good!)

Then last night they made their own version of Ina Garten's Roasted Potato Leek soup from her Back to Basics cookbook.

I could get used to this.

  1. Correction: 4 pounds 15 ounces. What a fatty.

  2. Happy belated birthday, Clare! I can't believe I missed it! The lemon-raspberry tart is beautiful and the Potato-Leek soup looks amazing.
