Lots of people asked about the beautiful plate I used in
this post. It's melamine but looks and feels like china. I found my plate at a local garden store, and bought the only one they
had. When I got home I looked up the company on the Internet
Le Cadeaux is the manufacturer, but they only sell wholesale on their site, so I searched around and found the dishes for sale
here. They have a
fun interactive pattern matching app, too. Their prices are significantly cheaper than what I paid. The 9" salad plate that I bought for $14 is only $10.50 on this site.
The dishware is patterned after Spanish, Italian and French ceramics. They're unbreakable and perfect for outdoor eating, or daily family use. Really cute.
Pottery Barn also has nice melamine dishes like these Spanish Talavera inspired plates
Williams Sonoma has a line of melamine
and so does Anthropologie.
These are on sale right now at Sur la Table.
La Plates will customize your melamine ware
and if you're not into patterns Horshow carries a plain colored set.
Bongenre sells a high end line that's based on antique porcelain and pottery.
And you can even create your own design here.
I don't know about you but all this makes me want to throw a party in the backyard.
Hello Sue:
ReplyDeleteThese are all such great fun that it would be very difficult to decide between them. The plates you chose are, we feel, particularly attractive as they do, as you suggest, remind one of Spanish and French ceramics.
We shall now look very carefully at what we take on picnics for the emphasis of this post is most certainly on style!
Melamine has come a long way. I'm with you, I would love to throw a summer party with a set of anyone of these melamine dishes.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! I have melamine plates and bowls at our cabin that I absolutely adore. They make me grin every single time I use them.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous dishes...thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteOh the customised one is so lovely, something else for my wish list.
ReplyDeleteoooh I love them all but i'm thinking the plain ones in the green are the plates for me... nice find and great round-up, thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat. Now I'll spend the rest of the day checking out the Le Cadeaux line. :)
ReplyDeleteWow - these later are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised how plastic can look like china...love these!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty... what a surprise!
ReplyDeleteI always adore your plates so thank you so much for this guide to where to get them!
ReplyDeleteSUCH a great idea/usage, especially for blogging/photography because many times a plate or dish will be used ONCE for pictures and after that, it's so memorable that there's no way I want to re-use it...so $1.99 or similar is about my speed. Sales. Love them. But somehow I love those $20 a piece plates from Anthro even more. Go figure :)
