Questionable Garlic

So what do you think, eat it, plant it, or dump it?  I'm never sure.

  1. I agree--plant it. By the way, Sue, you take wonderful photos!

  2. I usually throw it in the compost or bury it to see what happens at that point. Unless, of course, I realize it too late and am desperate for some garlic - then I'll split it and rip out the shoots...and if it's still fairly moist, I'll use it. (ssshhhhh....don't tell)

  3. Eat the cloves that have not sprouted yet and plant the rest.

  4. If the sprouts are lively, I always chop them up to use. And unless the cloves are too dried out, I use them too.

  5. I usually just snap off the sprout and use it anyway if the clove is not squishy. It's certainly much hotter when it has sprouted though so I cut back if it is raw or only lightly cooked. ☺

  6. Eat half plant half. Pull it apart and plant the cloves that have sprouted. Nothing wrong with it at all. It looks very healthy.

  7. I would probably plant it, but I believe Jacques Pepin says you can cut off the green part and eat the rest. I'm not fond of eating anything that sprouts myself.

    Fabulous photo.

  8. If you have a spot for it, plant it! I don't eat it that far along :( Not sure why I don't - maybe my mom did it that way. Who knows! What did you decide?
